General Practitioners seeing their patients at St Leonards Family Medical Centre operate on a mixed-billing fee model.

Why are there fees to see a Doctor?

General Practitioners believe in delivering the best quality patient care, with no compromise on service and time spent to ensure that all your needs are taken care of. You will be seen as close to your appointment time as is possible and will always be treated with the utmost care and respect while at our practice. In order for your General Practitioner to give you this level of care, the Medicare rebate alone is unfortunately no longer enough to cover our costs and operate a modern medical facility, hence why you will be charged a fair out-of-pocket fee.

What are the fees to see a Doctor?

Being a mixed-billing practice, fees are determined by the General Practitioner. Please see the individual General Practitioners profile pages for their basic fee structures.

Will any appointments be Bulk Billed?

Yes, there will be some patient types and appointment types that are Bulk Billed.

      • Some General Practitioners will Bulk Bill appointments for children 15 and under, and Pensioners with a valid Concession Card. Please see the individual General Practitioner profile pages to see who will Bulk Bill these appointments.
      • At the discretion of the individual General Practitioner, there may be appointments that you are bulk billed for. This will be entirely up to the General Practitioner.
      • COVID-19 vaccination appointments will be Bulk Billed.

How will my payment be processed?

You will be charged for your appointment at the end of your visit. You will be charged the full amount for your consultation including any out-of-pocket gap fees. Our team will process this payment and automatically lodge your Medicare rebate for you, which you will receive into your nominated bank account within 24 – 48 hours from Medicare.

Who is eligible for a Medicare Rebate?

Only patients with a valid Medicare Card will be eligible for a Medicare rebate. If you do not have a valid Medicare Card, you will be charged the full fee for your consultation.

How can I pay for my visit?

We accept most card types including VISA, Mastercard and EFT payments. We do not accept AMEX cards.
